Michelle Nunn

Michelle Nunn is no stranger to Senate politics, having watched her father, former Senator Sam Nunn.

Michelle Nunn is CEO of a volunteer organization called Points of Light, but her experience in public service goes back to her childhood: She’s the daughter of former Senator Sam Nunn and will be following a family tradition if she succesfully picks up the seat being vacated by Saxby Chambliss.

This is going to be a tough race, with potential Republican opponents that include Karen Handel: the former Susan G. Komen executive whose decision to defund for Planned Parenthood was one of the opening salvos in the War on Women.

From Michelle Nunn’s campaign website:

I’m running for Senate┬ábecause I’ve seen firsthand the power of individuals to make a difference in their own lives and the lives of those around them.

I’m running for Senate┬ábecause I believe that America’s spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship, when unleashed, can create extraordinary possibilities.

I’m running for the Senate┬ábecause each generation must build a stronger foundation for our children and grandchildren, and we are failing in that task.
