Nan Whaley was the youngest woman ever chosen for a seat on the City Commission of Dayton, Ohio. Now, she is striving for another historic first by running for Mayor of her beloved city. She has been active in politics since college, where she served as Ohio Chair of the College Democrats. She was also the co-chair of the John Kerry campaign for Montgomery County and has served as a delegate to the last three Democratic National Conventions.
UPDATE NOVEMBER 2013: Nan Whaley won her race to become Mayor of Dayton, OH.
She already broke a record of sorts in May’s primary runoff by defeating incumbent Mayor Gary Leitzell with than 50% of the vote. She is running against another Democrat, former judge A.J. Wagner.
Whaley has been endorsed by the Women’s Campaign Fund.
